The Boat Racing Festival also has a nuimber of other names, Boun Suang Heua, Boun Xuang Heua or Loy Krathong.
There are spectacular canoe races organized around the Mekomg River, and the boats are decorated with flowers and candles.
It is celebrated every year, with a variable date, and usually in October, at the end of Buddhist Lent.
